RAGGING : A PUNISHABLE OFFENCE (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal)
Azad Hind Fouz Smriti Mahavidyalaya considers Ragging a punishable offence. The College has adopted a 'Zero Tolerance Policy' about Ragging in its Campus i.e. all acts of ragging, major or minor, will be noted so that no Ragger, male or female, will be punished. The Anti Ragging Committee of the College is constituted in pursuance of UGC Regulations on 'Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions.
What is Ragging ? As per the order of Supreme Court of India and subsequent Notification from University Grants Commission (UGC), Ragging means: 1) Any disorderly conduct by words (spoken or written) or actions which has the effect of teasing a fresher or a junior student 2) Any rowdy behaviour which causes or may cause annoyance, misery or psychological harm or create fear in a fresher or a junior student 3) Asking students to do anything that they will not do in ordinary circumstances and which causes shame or embarrassment and adversely affects the mind or body of a fresher or a junior student 4) Any act that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of a fresher or a junior student 5) Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for academic tasks assigned to a student or a group of students 6) Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure on a fresher or any other student 7) Any act of physical or mental abuse targeted at a student (fresher or otherwise) on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), appearance, nationality, regional origin, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background

NOTE: To ensure that the provisions for the Anti-Ragging Act are not misused, all malicious complaints will be dealt with severely If the Anti-Ragging Committee finds that false allegations were made or misleading information was provided during the inquiry, the complainant shall be liable to be punished. |
