Women's Cell



University Grants Commission (UGC) mandates the establishment of Women's Cell in colleges to address issues related to women's safety, security and overall well-being within the institution. The Women's Cell work to prevent and redress instances of sexual harassment and discrimination, promote gender sensitization and ensure a safe and healthy environment for all women students and staff. UGC aims to develop a violence-free environment in educational institutions challenging the culture of silence surrounding violence against women through Gender Sensitization for all campus members. ​

UGC Guidelines for Basic Facilities & Amenities implemented by the College:

1. Students receive an e-handbook with rules and helpline numbers upon admission in the college ​
2. Arrangements for professional counseling are made available to students on campus, if and when required​
3. Students have access to clean sanitation facilities and well-lit areas​
4. Female security personnel is hired by the college​
5. CCTV coverage has been installed in all public spaces in the campus ​
6. Healthy food options are provided in the canteen ​
7. Self-defense training is provided to female students ​


Key function of Women's Cell for Sensitization and Grievance Redressal:

1. The College has an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) as per legal requirements and information about the ICC is widely disseminated
2. The College advocates a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment and gender discrimination​
3. Gender sensitization programmes are conducted by the College from time to time to challenge stereotypes. ​
4. Legal awareness programmes are conducted to empower women to report incidents​
5. Health awareness and check up camps are organized to address various health issues​
6. Gender-inclusive language is used in all official communication
​ 7. The College is committed to facilitate access to Women's Cell facilities to differently-abled individuals​
