The Department of Education of Azad Hind Fouz Smriti Mahavidyalaya started its journey with the establishment of the college. The Department was established on 8th October 1986 with Education General Programme. The University of Calcutta granted affiliation for Education Honours Programme on and from, 5th November, 2003.

Education is an interdisciplinary subject. It helps in understanding the psychology of learner and learning. It states the importance of sociological factors that pave the way for the developments of the individuals. Students are exposed to the idea of childhood education, primary education, secondary education and tertiary education. The subject helps to get an idea about the teaching methods giving importance to student centered education. It also focuses on skill based education, inclusive education, environmental education, science education, language education and physical education. Educational Technology with special reference to Artificial Intelligence is gaining significant importance in the study of Education. Research methodology is one of the important factors in the course and students are always encouraged in different types of research work. The students of the department are always involved with co-curricular activities and they also take part in various inter-college cultural and academic programmes.

The Department at present offers Under-graduate Courses in Honours and General. The University of Calcutta introduced ‘Choice Based Credit System’ (CBCS) from 2018-2022 for the students allowing them to choose Core, Skill and Discipline Specific Elective courses to study. The Education Department offered Education Honours and General. As per the New Education Policy, 2020; introduced by the University of Calcutta from the session 2023-24, the Education Department also offers Education Major and Minor Courses.
